My Dad's Art

I wrote this over a year ago,
and thought I'd share it here in honor
of my Dad's birthday today.

This year, in September, will mark 10 years
since he went to Heaven.

Happy Birthday, Dad.  We miss you!

He gave up art,

pushed aside the craft

to be a Dad.

To work (long)

and hard,

so we could have

stuff. Stuff we

needed and

stuff we wanted.

Instead of his art,

he'd paint my nails

for me.

Instead

of his art, he'd draw

me a picture.

Instead of his art,

he created life size

posters of pompon

girls for Spring Fling,

Locker signs for

football players,

and a special one

for me.

Instead

of his art, he

was my Daddy.

Maybe?

I am his art.
